Puzzle: The Freelancer's Dilemma

Puzzle: The Freelancer's Dilemma

Maeve is a freelance webpage developer, and she has a problem. A client has a budget of $10,000 and wants a webpage developed with as many features as possible, but also maximizing the total value of these features.

The client leaves the decision of which features to implement to Maeve. She wants to delight the client and asks you which features would be best to select.

We have the budget constraint and two objectives. Can you devise a rational way to trade them against each other?

Seeker recommends installing 7 features (3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, and 10), which yields a total value of 17.

This solution gives the client the maximum possible number of features. While a total value of 18 is possible, it would require reducing the number of features to just 4. The small loss in value is a favorable trade-off compared to the significant loss of features needed to get one more point in value. Well done, Maeve!
